This is a classic Hungarian postage stamp from the early 1920s, part of the “Harvesters” series, which is among the most iconic issues of the Kingdom of Hungary. The design depicts farmers harvesting wheat in the fields, symbolizing Hungary’s deep agricultural traditions.
Issued during the post–World War I hyperinflation period, this 500 Korona denomination represents the economic turbulence of the time, when values had to be increased rapidly to keep pace with inflation. The inscription “MAGYAR KIR. POSTA” (Hungarian Royal Post) highlights its origin from the Kingdom era before the later currency reforms.
Collectors value these stamps not only for their detailed engraving but also for their strong historical context, tying them to Hungary’s difficult interwar period. Postmarked examples like this one add postal history significance.
