Controvento- meaning "Upwind" in Italian is a five hectare vineyard in the Rocca San Giovanni region of Abruzzo just kilometers away from the Adriatic Sea. Vincenso di Meo, the winemaker, has his vines situated partly in a valley that showcases the beautiful Adratic Sea in the distance and is completely organic and practicing 0/0 farming. Fertilized with only winter green manure, the vines are pruned under the falling moon with no chemicals added. The grapes are handpicked by two people. His wines are never fined, clarified, filtered, sees any addition of So2 which allows for spontaneous fermentation.
