【Special Event: Minimalism in Film Music】Presented by Kung Chi Shing

在過去40多年，簡約主義風格在電影配樂扮演了一個重要的角色。是次音樂賞析會將會分為兩個部份。 阿龔首先分析簡約主義的美學、風格與特色, 介紹揀選的樂曲，包括電影《此時此刻》和《三島由紀夫》（Philip Glass) 、《鋼琴師和他的情人》（Michael Nyman）、《與魔共舞》(Max Richter)及經常在不同電影裏出現的Arvo Part著名作品”Fur Alina” 和 “Spiegel im Spiegel”。節目第二部份將由鋼琴家Linda Yim 演奏上述的樂曲。

Over the past 40 years, Minimalism has played a pivotal role in the evolution of film scoring. This music appreciation session is structured in two distinct parts to explore this influential movement.

In the first half, Kung will analyze the aesthetics, stylistic hallmarks, and unique characteristics of Minimalism. He will introduce a curated selection of seminal works, including pieces by Philip Glass from the films The Hours and Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters; Michael Nyman’s haunting compositions for The Piano; and Max Richter’s evocative score for Waltz with Bashir. The discussion will also cover Arvo Pärt’s profound masterpieces, "Für Alina" and "Spiegel im Spiegel," which have become iconic fixtures in contemporary cinema.

The second part of the program features pianist Linda Yim, who will perform these celebrated works, bringing the theoretical discussion to life through a live exploration of minimalist textures and emotions.
