【Jazz Future: Jason Wong Trio】留學荷蘭鼓手率領的爵士色士風三重奏

由鼓手Jason Wong、色士風手Brian Cheung和低音提琴手Nelson Fung組成的三人組合，將向爵士樂史上最具代表性的薩克斯風三重奏專輯致敬，包括Joe Henderson的《The State of the Tenor》、Lee Konitz的《Motion》以及Sonny Rollins的《Saxophone Colossus》。

薩克斯風三重奏作為爵士樂中極具挑戰性的編制，其最大特色在於捨棄了鋼琴或吉他等和弦樂器，僅由薩克斯風、低音提琴和鼓組成。這種極簡配置要求音樂家必須更加注重旋律線條的純粹性，同時強化節奏組之間的互動對話，並在即興段落中透過單音線條暗示豐富的和聲變化。

目前就讀於荷蘭Prince Claus音樂學院的Jason Wong，一直活躍於香港爵士樂界，曾與爵士音樂家如Teriver Cheung, Patrick Lui等合作，並於實驗音樂樂團 Fountain Collective 及現代爵士樂團 Laminar Quintet擔任鼓手。Jason 亦曾在不同的音樂節中演出，如Jazz Gala、自由空間爵士音樂節、爵士時代II大派對：塵世樂園等。

這場演出除了忠實重現經典錄音版本外，更將融入三人對這些作品的全新詮釋。觀眾將能體驗旋律線條的純粹美感，感受三重奏編制所特有的空間感與自由度。敬請期待！

The Jason Wong Trio—featuring drummer Jason Wong, saxophonist Brian Cheung, and bassist Nelson Fung—will pay homage to landmark saxophone trio albums in jazz history, including Joe Henderson's The State of the Tenor, Lee Konitz's Motion, and Sonny Rollins's Saxophone Colossus.  

The saxophone trio represents one of jazz's most demanding formats, characterized by the absence of chordal instruments like piano or guitar. With just saxophone, double bass, and drums, this minimalist configuration demands exceptional focus on melodic purity while requiring heightened rhythmic interplay. The musicians must imply rich harmonic progressions through single-note lines during improvisational passages.  

Drummer Jason Wong, currently studying at Prince Claus Conservatoire in the Netherlands, has been an active figure in Hong Kong's jazz scene. He has collaborated with esteemed musicians like Teriver Cheung and Patrick Lui, and performed with experimental ensemble Fountain Collective and modern jazz group Laminar Quintet. His festival appearances include Jazz Gala and Freespace Jazz Festival.  

Beyond faithful recreations of classic recordings, the trio will offer fresh interpretations of these timeless works. Audiences can anticipate the unadulterated beauty of melodic lines and experience the unique spatial freedom inherent to the trio format.
