The story: while antiquing in Massachusetts I came across a sale with a bunch of costume pieces from an old costume house called Hooker & Howe. The costume company existed at the turn of the century (1900) up until the 1940's. So, these jodhpur style pants were most likely manufactured around 1920's to 1930's (best guess, possibly a tad older or younger) and sold as part of a riding costume sold through the company.

They come in a light blue-grey, lightweight wool weave fabric. They have a high rise, suspender waist buttons and come to just below the knee (to be covered by riding boots). The inner calf area has been top-stitched for durability (because this area rubs against the horse the most) and the legs are cut to allow for maximum movement. These pants have several pockets, including one at each side hip, one smaller pocket at right waist, and two button-closure flap pockets at back. They contain a button-fly style closure at waist, as well as special 7-button closures at either calf. The only label present is a 'Hooker & Howe' costume label and the overall condition is very good. There are a few small holes that have been darn repaired, as well as some broken stitches at inner calf area. Please see photographs for full details.

Please note: these types of pants are designed with a center back seam that is meant to be adjusted for fit, so they can easily be altered.
