It is a hat-type hat with a brim and six panels like a cap. It is a reproduction of the piqué hat that Director Ozu used to wear under the supervision of Ginza Toraya Hat Shop, and has a special design with a woven name tag made for this project on the inside. Director Ozu loved white piqué hats, and it is said that he wore them on set regardless of the season, and ordered them by the dozen.

It is made using pique weave, a durable fabric with thick ridges on the surface.

Yasujiro Ozu
