Old school. New detail.
The signet ring, in chunky 8.9mm of solid gold or platinum, with a single petite round brilliant diamond set flush into the top. Centuries-old silhouette; one small modern flourish. The signet is the statement. The diamond is the detail.
The signet has been worn since antiquity as a mark of identity — first as a personal seal pressed into wax, more recently as the men's ring with the most heritage in fine jewellery. Worn by emperors, statesmen, scholars and grandfathers. This is the classic form, made properly: weighty, beautifully finished, ready to be engraved with initials, a monogram, a family crest, or whatever you'd like the world to know. The 1mm round brilliant on top is the only thing that says now — small on purpose, just enough to mark this signet as one to hand down to the next generation, rather than down from the last one.
Handcrafted to order in our Sydney workshop by our master jeweller — thirty-plus years at the bench, leading a team of designers and setters who hand-make every Deltora ring. Choose your metal. Choose your engraving. We'll build it by hand.
Ring details
What is a signet ring? A signet ring is a flat-topped, chunky ring traditionally engraved with a personal symbol — initials, a monogram, a family crest or a coat of arms. Originally used as a personal seal (pressed into wax to authenticate letters and documents), the signet has been worn for centuries as a mark of identity and remains one of the most heritage-rich styles in fine jewellery.
Is a signet ring suitable as a wedding ring? Yes — signets are increasingly chosen as wedding rings, particularly by men who want a substantial, distinctive band with the option to engrave personal detail (initials, wedding date, monogram). The diamond accent on this design adds a quiet contemporary flourish to the traditional form.
Are signet rings only for men? Historically yes, but signet rings are increasingly worn by everyone. The classic chunky silhouette has had a major contemporary revival, particularly worn on the pinky finger as a statement piece. We can craft the signet in a range of widths to suit any hand.
What can I have engraved on the signet? Anything you like. Common options include initials (single letter, double, or a three-letter monogram), a family crest or coat of arms, a wedding date, a meaningful symbol, or a single line of script. Our diamond concierge will guide you through the options during your consultation.
Why is the diamond so small? The 1mm round brilliant is intentionally petite — the signet is meant to be the headline, not the diamond. The accent adds a single quiet moment of sparkle without disturbing the bold, traditional silhouette.
Can the ring be resized? Yes. Signet rings can be resized like any standard ring. If you're planning a custom engraving, we recommend confirming your size carefully first.
Can I customise this ring? Yes — every Deltora signet is handcrafted to order. Choose your metal, your diamond (natural or lab grown), your engraving (or none), your finish (high-polish, brushed or satin), and your preferred band width.
Which metal looks best for a signet ring? Yellow gold (pictured) is the most classic choice — its warmth pairs beautifully with the chunky proportions and feels deeply traditional. White gold and platinum read more modern and architectural; rose gold offers a softer, more contemporary alternative. Personal preference rules.
