This commemorative set was issued by Bolivia in 1945 to mark the 100th anniversary of the National Anthem, first adopted in 1845. Each stamp features portraits of Benedetto Vincenti, composer of the anthem, and José Ignacio de Sanjinés, its lyricist. At the center is a musical excerpt from the anthem with the stirring words “Morir antes que esclavos vivir” (“To die before living as slaves”), symbolizing Bolivia’s fight for freedom.
The set includes denominations of 5c (violet), 10c (blue), 15c (green), and 30c (red), all printed by Talleres Offset, La Paz. With bold classical designs and strong patriotic themes, these stamps hold great significance for collectors interested in Latin American independence, music history, and Bolivian national heritage.
