Wonderfully atmospheric and evocative depiction of the French Riviera during the mid-20th Century. A colourful beach scene with blue parasols and beachgoers. The light of Mediterranean coast is beautifully captured.

Signed to the lower right by the artist Marius Woulfart, a painter, engraver, lithographer, illustrator and theatre designer born in Paris in 1905.
Marius Woulfart (1905-1991) spent much of his career working in the south of France. He was the son and pupil of Max Wulfart. The career of Marius Woulfart took place mainly in the south of France. He set up his studio in Cannes, then in Grasse. Highly visible in Paris, he exhibited regularly at the Salon d'Automne in Paris and his personal exhibitions were hosted in prestigious galleries such as the Galerie du Vieux Colombier, the Galerie des Champs Elysées or the Galerie Georges V. His works are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris. He exhibited in England as well as in Canada and Florida. Woulfart was particularly attached to the south of France where he liked to exhibit in the warm light of the south.
