Kurzfassung: Light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology plays an important role in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems by enhancing driving safety. Flash LiDAR, known for its reliability, faces limitations in detection range. Traditional optical designs, aimed at minimizing chromatic aberrations, are not optimal for LiDAR’s monochromatic operation.

This thesis introduces an optical design method tailored for Flash LiDAR to improve detection range. It examines angular resolution requirements for object detection, training and evaluating five algorithms on simulated point clouds of varying resolutions. A novel optical layout using discrete flash illumination and coaxial emitter-receiver optics reduces optical loss and ensures precise point-like radiation. Results show that beam angles remain smaller than pixel view angles, achieving efficient point-like radiation and extended detection range.
