This is a very rare, vintage skirt suit from acclaimed American designer Norman Norell (1900-1972). The union label in this suit was used from 1963-1974, placing it in the mid to late 1960s. The five-button jacket has no collar, four patch pockets, a leather belt, buttoned cuffs, and is lined in silk taffeta. The skirt has a few gathers on each side of the front waistband, making it slighter fuller than a "pencil" skirt. The fabric is a heavy wool houndstooth plaid in varying shades of taupe, ivory and brown. Both pieces are lined in silk taffeta, most of which has been sewn in by hand, as have been the pockets. Based on the measurements, we are estimating it to be about a size 6 or 8. Please refer to the measurements for additional guidance regarding size.

JACKET MEAUREMENTS

- Length down center back is 25" excluding collar.

SKIRT MEASUREMENTS

- Hips are 36"
- Length is 24. 5"

CONDITION
There appears to have been some "re-weaving" to a few very small to tiny holes on the back of the jacket and near the hemline of the skirt. Whoever made the repairs did a nice job, so they are not visible without close scrutiny. The belt shows moderate wear, mostly on the back side, but of course it could be replaced, or you can wear the jacket without a belt.
