Stitching & Cutting Tips

  Pre-wash before cutting

  Hand wash in cool water before cutting to remove any factory residue and allow minimal pre-shrinkage. Dry flat. The polyester base means shrinkage is very low, but pre-washing ensures a stable cut.

  Align the check pattern before cutting

  For garments where the check pattern should align across seams — such as a sherwani front or lehenga panels — lay out all pieces before cutting and verify the check repeat matches at seam lines. Account for pattern matching in your fabric quantity.

  Use sharp scissors or a rotary cutter

  Jacquard fabrics can shift during cutting. Use sharp fabric scissors or a rotary cutter with a cutting mat. Pin pieces firmly before cutting to prevent the layers from slipping.

  Needle and thread

  Use a fine universal or ballpoint needle (size 70/10 or 80/12) with polyester thread in a matching colour. A fine needle prevents visible holes in the weave.

  Finish raw edges

  Polyester jacquard can fray at cut edges. Finish all raw edges with a serger/overlocker or a tight zigzag stitch immediately after cutting.

  Washing

  Hand wash cold with mild detergent, or machine wash on a gentle/delicate cycle in a mesh laundry bag. Avoid hot water — it can cause the fabric to lose its sheen over time.

  Drying

  Hang or lay flat in shade. Do not tumble dry. The jacquard texture can flatten slightly under high heat drying.

  Ironing

  Iron on a low-to-medium synthetic setting on the reverse side of the fabric. Use a pressing cloth to protect the sheen and jacquard texture. Do not steam directly onto the fabric surface.

  Storage

  Fold along the fabric grain to avoid permanent crease lines in the jacquard weave. Store away from direct sunlight to preserve colour vibrancy across all shades.

⚠ This is a pre-dyed fabric in multiple shades — it is NOT dyeable or overdyeable at home. The colour is set at the Banarasi mill. Do not attempt to dye or bleach this fabric. Iron only on reverse side with a pressing cloth to preserve the jacquard weave texture and surface sheen.
