Striking Ancient Egyptian themed chess set by Italfama with ornate gold and black pieces, paired with a beautiful Spanish walnut and maple chessboard.

Depicting typical Ancient Egyptian characters and artefacts, the sides are divided between ornately painted on gold or black and gold.

As expected, the kings are easy to recognise. Royal figures often wore elaborate headdresses, the colour and size of which were defined by the significance of the event. The blue and gold headdress, which we tend to associate with a pharaoh, is called a Nemes. A pharaoh is also recognised by his crossed arms, holding a crook in one hand and a flail in the other. Also easily recognised by her headdress, is the beautiful queen sitting very regally with a 'palms on knees' pose.
