Sway control is used to reduce trailer sway and improve handling in adverse towing conditions. The sway control unit dampens trailer sway caused by crosswinds and traffic. Both friction and dual cam designs improve stability and increase towing safety. A bolt-on sway control adapter is also included. Bolt-on sway control adapter attaches to a standard 2" ball mount and provides a mounting point for friction sway control. The ball mount platform is 2-1/2" wide and requires a 1" ball hole. The adapter is made of 3/8" thick material and attaches under the hitch ball. When installed, the length of the hitch ball shank must be long enough so that at least two threads are visible when the hitch ball is installed and the nut is fully tightened. You may need a hitch ball with a long shank. This adapter fits any standard 2" ball mount with a 2-1/2" wide ball platform. Sold separately. The ball hole size for hitch balls is 1 inch and 5/8 inch for sway balls. A black powder coat finish is applied over the E-coat to prevent corrosion. We do not recommend using sway control with surge brakes. A and C trailer tongues only. Will not fit pole tongue trailer frames. This adapter cannot be used with Class I drawbar/ball mounts. Ball platform prevents the adapter from rotating during tightening.
