Comm.) reports two methods of eliciting bioluminescence: prepare culture charging cells in light (ca. 12-16h), then place culture in dark (ca. 2-3h). Culture exhibits bioluminescence when agitated by shaking in the dark, or when cells are killed by adding strong acetic acid or distilled water. The best time to do this is during the culture's "regular" night period. |
