The sound and songs on their first studio album in 12 years are terrifying. The band released two studio albums in the mid 90's, both of which were cult favorites, but stopped their activities in 1996. After about 10 years, the band reunited and released their first album in 14 years in 2009. Since then, their activities outside of live shows have been conspicuously absent, but in 2018 they released another surprise EP. The quality of their music and work, as well as their godlike stance, gives them the dignity of a big name. ■The latest album, their first in 12 years since their last full-length album, was recorded by Fredrik Folkare of UNLEASHED, as was the EP in 2018. The style of the album is still based on death/black metal, but with lyrical melodies and sounds peeking out of its face. The sound is finished with a fairly modern sound image, and the strength of the music is noticeable. The dramatic nature of the music, coupled with the darkness that permeates the entire album, makes it one of the most dramatic albums to date.As the members themselves have said, it is a fitting start to a new chapter. Daniele Valeriani (MAYHEM, TRIPTYKON, BEHEMOTH, etc.) was in charge of the artwork. The tight red/black/white binding is also excellent.
