This is the happiest and most soulful album by Donald Byrd, the trumpet player nicknamed "The Funky Professor. The album features a selection of his best songs, including "Fly Bird Fly," one of the greatest performances of his lifetime, "Dixie Lee," which is full of R&B feeling, and "I Got It Bad," an emotionally rich ballad.
