Never say never: the phrase used in song lyrics and movie titles, also applies to aviation. After the Covid-19 pandemic kept the world at bay, or rather at home, and airlines decided to mothball or retire the A380 super-jumbo in their struggle for survival, British Airways was one operator of the type that retired the Boeing 747 earlier than scheduled, but planned to return its fleet of twelve A380s back to service as quickly as possible. All Superjumbos have steadily been returned to service since 2021, among them G-XLEF, the sixth A380 originally delivered to British Airways in 2014. This latest edition shows some improvements compared to the last production run: the two sat domes on the fuselage were added as well as some additional prints, such as the static port markings on the sides of the fuselage, or the maintenance markings and the Rolls Royce logo on all four engines.
