Elevate your Montreal Canadiens Memorabilia collection with the Gump Worsley Collectors Card Print!
Lorne John Worsley nicknamed "Gump," for his resemblance to a popular comic strip character, played in a pro career which spanned 24 years. The best of Worley's pro career was spent with the Montreal Canadiens, with whom he participated in 4 Stanley Cup Championships. During his fine career he won the Calder Trophy as the league's outstanding rookie in 1953 and the Vezina trophy in both 1966 and 1968. Worley had a fine career goals against average of 2.91 per game and posted 43 career shutouts. His finest season occurred in 1967-68 when he posted a 1.98 goals allowed average and had six shutouts in 40 games played. Gump was also one of the last of the mask-less goalies, finally relenting in 1974 during his final season playing with the Minnesota North Stars.
