Ashwagandha, also known as Indian ginseng, is indicated in Ayurveda as a daily rasayana, or anti-aging therapy. It is one of the most highly regarded and widely used Ayurvedic herbs and is believed to increase energy and overall health and longevity. It acts as an adaptogen and immune modulator, nourishing and strengthening the inner reserve of the body. Aswagandha literally means "to impart the strength of a horse." It supports the activity of lymphocytes and macrophages, provides neuroprotection by scavenging free radicals and may aid in thyroid function.

The key constituentsof Ashwagandha, withanoloids, play an important role in its ability to promote physical and mental health, such as for occasional stress, cognitive and brain function, immune system enhancement, and healthy lipid and glucose metabolism.
