The Uranus-M is a high-performance mono planetary and EAA camera featuring the Sony IMX585 monochrome sensor. With its large 1/1.2" format, 12-bit ADC, and ultra-low noise design, it delivers incredible detail and dynamic range for lunar, planetary, and solar imaging — even under challenging seeing conditions.
Tip: The Uranus-M pairs beautifully with LRGB and narrowband filters for professional-grade imaging results. For solar use, ensure a certified solar filter or solar telescope is fitted.

The Uranus-M (IMX585) is a high-performance camera developed by Player One Astronomy, featuring Sony's latest IMX585 1/1.2” format mono sensor. With a 2.9μm pixel size, a well depth of 47Ke, and a resolution of 3856 × 2180 (8.3MP), this camera is ideal for astrophotography, EAA (Electronically Assisted Astronomy), and lucky imaging. Its diagonal measurement of 12.85mm provides a large field of view, enhancing imaging capabilities.

Both the Uranus-M and Uranus-C (colour variant) incorporate Sony’s advanced STARVIS 2 technology, which employs a back-illuminated pixel structure for improved sensitivity and reduced noise. This ensures exceptional performance in low-light conditions, making it perfect for astrophotography applications.

The Uranus-M (IMX585) features a 1/1.2" format, providing a significant field of view for imaging.
With a 47Ke full well capacity, this camera outperforms the IMX485 (13Ke), offering 3.6 times greater capacity for enhanced dynamic range.

One of the standout features of the Uranus-M is its ability to produce dark frames that remain completely "dark" even under high-stretch conditions, eliminating amp glow for clean, high-quality images.

The Active Cooling System (ACS) is an external air-cooled system designed for solar and large-format planetary cameras with Passive Cooling Systems (PCS). With PCS + ACS, the camera maintains a temperature only 7°C above ambient, reducing noise and improving performance for deep-sky and solar imaging.

Player One Astronomy names its planetary camera series based on planetary sizes:
Mars (1/3")
Neptune (1/2")
Uranus (1/1.2")
Saturn (1")
Jupiter (4/3")
The camera’s body follows a high-tech hexagonal design with round chamfers for durability and elegance. Its striking red finish combined with a matte black surface gives it a premium, high-end appearance.
A built-in sensor tilt plate helps minimize field curvature, enhancing deep-sky imaging performance.
The integrated high-density sponge shading pad effectively blocks stray light, ensuring clean imaging results.

A newly added Passive Cooling System (PCS) efficiently dissipates sensor heat, reducing noise and improving performance.
The first planetary cameras to feature DDR3 cache memory, ensuring stable data transmission, preventing frame dropping, and reducing readout noise.
With DDR3 cache, the camera performs exceptionally even when connected via USB 2.0.

Built-in DPS technology analyses dark frames to detect and correct fixed abnormal pixels, enhancing overall image quality.
Ensures camera safety with built-in protection mechanisms to prevent damage from power fluctuations.
When connected via USB 3.0, the camera achieves up to 47 FPS in RAW8 mode (10-bit ADC).
Supports ST4 guiding, enabling direct connection to an equatorial mount for precise auto-guiding.
HCG mode activates at gain = 210, enhancing low-light sensitivity while maintaining low readout noise.
All readout noise values are obtained from actual tests. Users can independently verify noise performance using SharpCap 4. A step-by-step guide is available on the Player One Astronomy website.

The camera’s relative response curve is officially provided by Sony, ensuring authoritative and reliable sensitivity data.
