Las Planadas farm is situated on the Guaitipan Peninsula in Huila, Colombia, at an altitude of 1350 MASL—quite low for high-quality specialty coffee.
Lower altitudes can be challenging for growing arabica coffee, as plants are more susceptible to pests and excessive heat. To address this, Nelson and his family made the decision over 20 years ago to plant more than 100 shade trees, creating a microclimate that mimics farms at higher elevations.
The result is a delicious coffee with balanced acidity and bright, juicy fruit notes. This F6 variety was picked ripe and fermented in the coffee cherry must for 48 hours, then pulped, washed, and placed on raised beds to dry.
Please, slow down, take the moment and enjoy this delicious coffee.
Mandarin and stonefruit sweetness, balanced with panela sugar, cocoa nibs and crisp refreshing finish.
