【Jazz Future: Michael Chan x Darwin Hui】

香港爵士結他手Michael Chan自11歲開始學結他，在英國修讀國際關係及政治時接觸爵士樂，並以此為主要發展方向。他師從美國結他手Chris Parks，並向本地資深樂手崔展鴻、Joyce Cheung、Ted Lo、Patrick Lui、Scott Murphy、Bowen Li請益，奠定扎實技巧與聽覺語言。

2019年回港後，他投入專業演奏與音樂教育，曾於荃灣大會堂、香港大會堂、E-Max、LauBak Livehouse、Kind of Brew、Visage One等場地演出，並參與Clockenflap、西九自由爵士音樂節、Groove Bay Music Festival、Ensemble Transience等活動。目前，他與本地樂手共同創立「Fountain de Chopin 翻騰三周半」，透過演出、工作坊及課程推動爵士樂在香港發展。

同台的是本地爵士結他手Darwin Hui，受Kurt Rosenwinkel與John Scofield影響，專注現代聲響與旋律線發展。他熱衷攝影，這份視覺敏感也融入音樂創作。

本次雙結他演出，兩位年輕結他手重新詮釋爵士經典，帶來新鮮火花，強調互動、對話與即興碰撞，展現香港新生代爵士結他手的活力與細膩。

Hong Kong jazz guitarist Michael Chan started guitar at age 11. While studying international relations and politics in the UK, he discovered jazz and made it his main focus. He trained under American guitarist Chris Parks and learned from local masters including Tsui Chin Hung, Joyce Cheung, Ted Lo, Patrick Lui, Scott Murphy, and Bowen Li, gaining strong technique and ear for the idiom.

Since returning to Hong Kong in 2019, Michael has performed professionally and taught actively. Venues include Tsuen Wan Town Hall, Hong Kong City Hall, E-Max, LauBak Livehouse, Kind of Brew, and Visage One. He has appeared at Clockenflap, West Kowloon Free Jazz Festival, Groove Bay Music Festival, and Ensemble Transience. He co-founded the jazz outreach project “Fountain de Chopin 翻騰三周半” with fellow musicians, running gigs, workshops, and classes to spread jazz locally.

Joining him is Hong Kong jazz guitarist Darwin Hui, influenced by Kurt Rosenwinkel and John Scofield. Darwin emphasizes modern tone and melodic phrase-building. He is also an avid photographer; this visual sensibility enriches his musical approach.

In this duo set, the two young guitarists offer a fresh two-guitar reinterpretation of jazz standards. Expect tight interplay, conversational lines, and lively improvisation that capture the energy and finesse of Hong Kong’s rising jazz guitar scene.
